Delirious Moose

Delirious Moose

12 years ago there was a gig, a gig that would got terribly wrong. 80-100 faces staring emotionless while four men in their early 30s played some music not suited to the occasion. Their performance went down like a lead balloon. The other performers liked what they saw, unfortunately no one else did though. They’d had a gig the week before to very few people and it had been perhaps their best performance. That terrible gig 12 years ago was the last time I performed any music in front of other people. I will write about the experience at some point.

Yesterday I was at the police box on Leith Walk at the ‘Fake Fringe’ and I was to plug in my guitar and play a few songs to the world. I would be backed on trumpet by one of fellow cohorts from all those years ago. I was understandably nervous. I felt like I was going to arse it up. I did the songs, they didn’t go as well as I wanted, but I had done it.

A bit later on I was more nervous as I was going to perform almost same songs. This time though, I felt buoyed by the previous performance and my friends being encouraging and not cringing at the bits when I felt it went wrong or sounded bad. I stopped being worried, I managed to end on a high, belting out a song that reminded me I can get it right!

I’m back there next weekend with my friend. We are going to be Delirious Moose. Here is the hastily cobbled together “fake promo” material.
